This image was completed for a model’s portfolio. This was a two light setup. The main light was shot through a large umbrella just out of the frame right. I bounced light from a large white reflector which was just out of frame bottom. Behind the model, a second light was snooted to provide edge separation and isolate each droplet from the atomizer. The difficult part was timing shutter release and the squeeze of the atomizer. As you might imagine, we made several attempts just to make sure we had what we needed. Between each, we had to stop so that the model could dry off and repair her face a bit.
A red brick wall was in the background. I intentionally underexposed it to produce an inky black background for this portrait.
In the end, she was pleased with the shot, and so was I.
